A Zero-Waste Fragrance Concept Rooted in Vetiver and Sustainability
Packaging Design
As part of the Make a Mark initiative—led by Estal, Avery Dennison, and KURZ to drive innovation in sustainable luxury packaging—Lonsdale reimagined the world of perfumery with a concept that is radically responsible and deeply rooted in nature.
The result is KHUS, a visionary zero-waste fragrance concept inspired by vetiver, a plant traditionally used in perfumery but also valued for its ecological and artisanal properties. Named after its original Sanskrit name, KHUS embraces the full potential of vetiver: the plant is used not only in the fragrance formulation, but also in the label, cap, cord, and outer bottle structure.
This holistic approach honors both sustainability and heritage—especially through elements like handwoven dried vetiver cord, echoing ancestral crafts. More than a product, KHUS tells a story: one that connects past and future, encourages reconnection with the earth, and inspires a new standard for responsible beauty.
KHUS was awarded a Pentaward, recognizing its bold, thoughtful design and environmental ambition as a blueprint for the future of luxury fragrance.
