Maison Sisley

The notion of beauty

The brief

Sisley, a luxury cosmetics brand recognized for its scientific expertise, called on Lonsdale to design its first beauty salon: a reflection of the brand’s spirit and the Ornano family’s warmth, within a listed building and decorated in Art Deco style.

Our recommendation

Situated 5 avenue de Friedland in Paris, Lonsdale developed an original and unique concept: a beauty salon where all eras and styles unite. Maison Sisley is conceived as a unique place where aesthetic harmony reigns supreme, where the elegantly chosen colors and materials underline the creations of international designers and the works of artists from all walks of life, chosen by the Ornano family. Travel memories, collected works of art, antique objects, designer and vintage furniture rub shoulders in total harmony with bespoke creations, lamps made from recycled bottles, walls and columns lined with press clippings…

Maison Sisley’s 360m2 are divided into two spaces: a “public” space with a shop on the street, a diagnostic area and a lounge where customers are welcomed in a whimsical and eclectic spirit; and a “private” space with treatment rooms that opens onto a “secret café” away from the world, reserved for clients of the institute.

Respecting the Ornano family’s artistic sensibility, Lonsdale gave each area an astonishing uniqueness that combines the brand’s codes of expression with works from the family’s private collection.

The agency also brought in luxury artisans (Atelier d’Offard in Tours for the hand-crafted wallpaper), artists (door handles made by Polish artist Bronislaw Krzysztof, suspensions from Alvaro by Ocon, tables by Marika Carniti Bollea, painting by Elzbieta Radziwill) and designers (Moon chandelier by Dimore Studio in Milan, sofa by India Mahdavi). So many elements that give a real creative fantasy to the place for an homely atmosphere.

The result

For Maison Sisley, Lonsdale and Sisley won the 2018 Janus du Commerce prize, awarded by the French Institute of Design.
